BUDDY Franklin is yet to clinch his much awaited century of goals in season 2008, after yesterday failing to complete his tonne at Subiaco Oval.
After booting 4.5 against West Coast on Sunday and 3.6 in the Hawks' round 20 loss to Richmond, Franklin is still two majors short of being the first player since Tony Lockett to kick 100 goals during the home & away season.
Franklin faces goalkicking rival Brendon Fevola in round 22 next week, when the two spearheads will shoot off for the Coleman medal.
Fevola is also in the hunt for a tonne, needing a haul of 8 in what is shaping up to be the Blues' last game of the season -- only a fortunate series of results would see Carlton play finals.
Next Saturday night at the Telstra Dome may be a historic night for the AFL, with perhaps both Franklin and Fevola taking their tallies to 100 goals during the same match. |
