THE AFL is expected to back-flip on a key component of the new controversial interchange rules.
In an abrupt change of attitude, football operations manager Adrian Anderson is believed to be seeking a more sophisticated approach than the previously tried paperwork system.
According to The Age, the AFL met with statistician group Champion Data about using an electronic device to record and log club interchanges.
BehindTheGame believes that the Central Executive of the AFL pressured Anderson into resolving the current interchange crisis.
The post-it note system has been ridiculed and criticized by many high profile figures including Sydney coach Paul Roos and Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse.
Clubs have found themselves with several players hovering around the interchange race waiting for the paperwork to be processed by interchange stewards.
The interchange modifications came as a byproduct from the drawn clash played between Sydney and North Melbourne earlier this season.
In the dying moments of the match, the Swans sensationally played an extra man for 40 seconds, forcing the AFL to find a game-day solution. |
