THIS weeks Friday night clash between St Kilda and Collingwood is building to be a season defining game for both sides.
St Kilda, currently placed fifth in the competition, sit on 4 wins and three losses. Collingwood (eighth), 3 wins and four losses.
A loss here to either side will certainly make the road to the eight and almighty task.
Both St Kilda and Collingwood were rated as the main challengers to Geelongs title race this year.
This game would have been labelled as one of the AFL's blockbusters pre season, but now, the interest is high for all the wrong reasons.
The Saints after an impressive pre-season transfixed the competition into believing that they were the 'real deal'. Whilst the Magpies were expected to continue their rise under Mick Malthouse after a thrilling final series.
However, the respective sides positions lay vulnerably inside the top eight. And neither are yet to impress.
Collingwood are likely to present as favourites for the weekend, after St Kilda has suffered recent injury blows to both Matthew Maguire and Nick Riewoldt.
The Pies are coming off a drubbing to the hands of the inform Hawks and although St Kilda fall over the line against a young Richmond, their performance was less than impressive.
This clash, is do or die. |
